What is a General Purpose Server
A General Purpose Server (GPS) is a server that can be deployed and used within a project that has a Solr instance. Utilizing a General Purpose Server allows you to flexibly meet the complex needs of business applications.
Possible uses include:
- Pre-processing for indexing
- Vector calculations for semantic searches using GPUs
- Custom crawling processes
Communication is only possible between instances within the project, such as Solr instances and other General Purpose Servers.
The creation of General Purpose Servers is managed by the KandaSearch team (customers cannot create or delete them). If you are considering implementing a General Purpose Server, please contact us.
